Who knew? National Alpaca Farm Day

This September 29 & 30 is the first annual National Alpaca Farm Day (yes, I know that's two days, go tell the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association). So, not knowing much more than alpaca wool is very soft and very warm, and finding out that there are three alpaca farms within 20 minutes of my home in eastern CT (and eight in the state of RI), I dragged my wife to Burgis Brook Alpacas. It was nice, but something more for the kids, which is why we're planning on taking our nieces to a local bison farm next week.

Updating this site

For current and past clients (and pretty much anyone else I know), I sent out my first newsletter today. You can find it here, and if you're not subscribed and wish to you can click on the "Update your e-mail address" link at the bottom of the newsletter. Before sending it out I made a ton of web site updates, from minor text changes, to adding whole new wedding, portrait and corporate galleries and changing the pricing structure for weddings to make it all custom packaging. Please take a look around.

Family portrait on the beach

A few weeks ago I had a ton of fun with a family portrait session on the beach. The children were adorable and full of energy, never breaking down and behaving perfectly. And the parents were willing to do just about anything to get a fun, non-traditional portrait. Since finishing the proofs the mother e-mailed: "We had a blast. We would like to plan to do that hopefully every year . . . We are so pleased with the pics and we can't thank you enough!" Much credit goes to my wife who stands behind me and gets children to smile so wide.

And here's a more traditional, but still fun portrait.

My photographs of one of the bathrooms beautifully designed and built by Simply Baths have been printed in not one, but two recent publications from Creative Homeowner. The two-page spread below contains the photos and write-up (you may recall seeing that bathroom on the blog back in March).

two-page spread from The Best of Signature Baths

That spread is printed in the large format paperback book The Best of Signature Baths,

The Best of Signature Baths

and also in the Fall 2007 issue of Signature Kitchens & Baths magazine as part of their 9th Annual Design Awards.

Thanks to Barry Miller of Simply Baths, a division of The Brush's End.

This is a year of abundant thank yous, which is very gratifying. The latest comes from Paige and Scott who were married at the Newport Officers' Club in May this year.

Paige and Scott, May 20, 2007 thank you note

Unfortunately, May completely got away from me and I didn't get a chance to blog their wedding, so I will rectify that with a couple of photos here. They are a completely adorable couple who were so very, very happy to be getting married

They also had a very adorable set of flower girls and ring bearers, along with Scott's son, who posed wonderfully throughout the day.
