Warwick, RI family portrait 2

Right before a snowstorm on a cold December day I went to a home in Warwick as a Christmas surprise to a grandmother. She received the gift of portraits of her children, spouses and grandchildren. We had a nice time making a few photos outside in the cold before heading into her warm home. Happy Holidays everyone!

Holiday shoppers at Providence Place were surprised on the Saturday after Thanksgiving as I led Alessandra, Rocco and their wedding party around the mall for some of their formals. The weather had turned a little too windy for any pictures outside so, in planning for photos the week before, I had suggested crossing from the Westin into the mall for some photographs. We had a blast as we rode the escalators, sat on the stools at Johnny Rockets and stopped into Steve Madden.

Alessandra and Rocco were all about downtown Providence for their engagement photos back in April so the hotel, footbridge and mall was a nice way to keep it downtown while staying inside. Regardless of where we were, the whole day was fun, as you can tell from one of several photos we made in the Westin’s telephone booths. Thanks to Mike Picard Videography for chasing us around as I came up with photo ideas, Golden Gate Studios for the gorgeous flowers and thank you very much to Alessandra & Rocco.

Vanessa and Andrew had a wedding day marked by two wonderful connections to Andrew’s parents’ wedding day. First, they were married by the same priest that married Andrew’s parents. Then, as fate would have it, due to the rain, we ended up taking photographs indoors in the same room Andrew’s parents had photos taken on their wedding day. We took a few outside as well, but look at that wedding party inside. Is that not just a fun group or what? Congratulations again Vanessa and Andrew!

The 2009 wedding season has been the year everyone talks about the rain. Overall, my couples have been lucky to dodge the precipitation. Tina & Mat weren’t so lucky, but talk about complete disregard of the weather, this wedding was FUN (as evidenced by the below photos from the bathtub and with the groomsmen hard at work at the kids’s table). Tina was a blast of energy and light and Mat kept right up with her. We probably could have lost power and had a freak blizzard and their day still would have been a party. Thank you both for a great time.

Weddings in New England in 2009 have been dodging rain all season. So far I’ve been pretty lucky and even on this somewhat gray September day Melissa, Jason and I were able to step outside their church for a few photos. Getting married at such a beautiful church also helped! All my wonderful couples prove that nothing dampens a wedding day. Thank you Melissa and Jason.

Natalia and Joshua came from the U.K. to get married in Newport. Luckily they picked the day after a waning hurricane and the weather was perfect. Natalia was a very happy bride, full of laughter as you can see from one of the below photos, and Josh—and both their families—also seemed more than overjoyed. Thank you Natalia & Josh for having me photograph your wedding, it was beautiful.

Those of you who have seen my photography of The Talent Factory Dance Company will recognize Tara’s name as the person who helps pose those wonderful young dancers. We had a great portrait session back in July and now here’s the results of that day. Tara’s a very accomplished dancer as well as teacher and she told me to feel free to be creative with the prints, which is why there’s a mix of styles and looks here. I couldn’t be happier with the work we did creating the photographs in this post.

By popular demand I’ve been asked to post some more of this year’s Talent Factory Dance Company portraits. If you count how many from this session I’ve turned into final prints you’ll understand how much I enjoy making them. Thanks once again to Dana, Tara and all the wonderful dancers.
